Promises made by Ontario鈥檚 government to use $40 million saved from the closures of 26 youth detention facilities in 2021 towards community-based support services have not been met. The closures have overwhelmed community organisations, which are unable to provide the necessary resources for appropriate rehabilitation, due to record-high numbers of youths seeking access.
